Press release SATT Toulouse - September 16, 2024
Celluol, a new start-up spun out of the Toulouse Biotechnology Institute (INSA Toulouse-CNRS-INRAE) laboratory and backed by SATT Toulouse Tech Transfer, is revolutionizing biofuel production thanks to an innovative technology.
Toulouse welcomes the birth of Celluol, an innovative start-up that marks a major a major breakthrough in the production of sustainable biofuels. The startup uses the power of biology to transform under-utilized wastes, such as agricultural or forestry residues, into ethanol and chemicals.
Biomass waste, such as agricultural residues, is an essential material for the production of fuels and chemicals in sectors that are difficult to decarbonize, such as aviation and shipping. However, current solutions for converting these residues require highly complex and costly processes. The challenge is therefore to propose an innovation that can simplify these processes for large-scale implementation.
