Actual position and research subject
INRAE scientist (Dr. -Eng) since 1996 and works at Toulouse Biotechnology Institute, Bio & Chemical Engineering (TBI) with disciplinary competences in Life Sciences and Engineering Sciences. His activity is focused on Bioprocess and Food process engineering. His research field explores the coupled transfers and transfer limitations in (bio)process to meet the challenges of the bioeconomy with public and private collaborators. This activity embraces 3 keywords: cell culture (polyphasic and reactive medium), bioreactor, physical characterization. His expertise is related to food processing/safety and bioprocess engineering (industrial biotechnology). His scientific production deals with membrane process, heat treatment, bioreaction/biocatalysts, complex biological matrices and biorefinery. He acts as food process and bioprocess expert at ANSES since 2003 and scientific director of Carnot 3BCAR (Biomolecule, Bioenergy, Biomaterial) since 2021 to promote and to sustain private-public research and partnership for bio-economy.
- Research: Irreducible couplings between heat transfer, mass transfer and fluid mechanics in complex and evolving biosystems (microbial and enzymatic biocatalysts) in bioreactor.
- Investigation: bio-catalytic reaction, characterization of complex products (fermentation broth, transfer, solid-liquid suspension, rheological behavior), dedicated in-situ and ex-situ physical measurements (instrumentation and bioprocess design), membrane process (alternative technology, loss reduction, water management), heat treatment (conventional and alternative technologies, Indirect and direct Joule effect heater
- Area of expertise: bioeconomy/biorefinery, food process and bioprocess engineering, food safety
