Il s&rsquo;agit des biocarburants de deuxi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, des \u00e9lectrocarburants (\u00e0 partir de dioxide de carbone, CO2, atmosph\u00e9rique\/industriel, combin\u00e9 \u00e0 de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne renouvelable, H2), des batteries \u00e9lectriques et des syst\u00e8mes \u00e0 H2 (soit par combustion, soit dans des piles \u00e0 combustible). L\u2019emphase de cette th\u00e8se porte sur l&rsquo;aviation commerciale (passagers et fret), qui repr\u00e9sente 88% des \u00e9missions de CO2 de l&rsquo;aviation mondiale.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce travail \u00e9tudie quatre voies pour les biocarburants : esters et acides gras hydrotrait\u00e9s (HEFA) avec des huiles usag\u00e9es, gaz\u00e9ification de la biomasse suivie soit de Fischer-Tropsch (FT), soit de la fermentation du gaz de synth\u00e8se et de la valorisation de l&rsquo;alcool (Ethanol-to-Jet), et fermentation du sucre et valorisation de l&rsquo;alcool (Isobutanol-to-Jet). A ceci s\u2019ajoutent deux voies pour les \u00e9lectrocarburants avec des technologies de capture du carbone bas\u00e9es sur un sorbant liquide ou solide, quatre voies pour les batteries (\u00e0 base de Li), et deux voies pour la production d&rsquo;H2 par l\u2019\u00e9lectrolyse de l&rsquo;eau. Les syst\u00e8mes enti\u00e8rement \u00e9lectriques ne sont envisag\u00e9s que pour les segments domestiques (avion de 19 passagers) ; pour les segments internationaux, un syst\u00e8me hybride avec le k\u00e9ros\u00e8ne fossile est consid\u00e9r\u00e9. Les comparaisons sont effectu\u00e9es sur la base de l&rsquo;unit\u00e9 fonctionnelle suivante : \u00ab\u00a0Assurer l&rsquo;approvisionnement mondial annuel de 6 trillions de kilom\u00e8tres-passagers payants (RPK) de vols int\u00e9rieurs et de 9 trillions de RPK de vols internationaux\u00a0\u00bb, lui-m\u00eame bas\u00e9 sur les pr\u00e9visions de l&rsquo;ICAO<br>(International Civil Aviation Organization )<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le cadre comparatif b\u00e2tit par cette \u00e9tude couvre des questions essentielles g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement n\u00e9glig\u00e9es dans les analyses pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes, notamment le fait que : i) dans les conditions actuelles, les carburants liquides de substitution doivent \u00eatre m\u00e9lang\u00e9s au k\u00e9ros\u00e8ne fossile ; ii) les biomasses r\u00e9siduelles, lorsqu&rsquo;elles sont mobilis\u00e9es pour l&rsquo;aviation, sont d\u00e9tourn\u00e9es d&rsquo;une autre utilisation (utilisation contrefactuelle) ; iii) les carburants peuvent affecter le type et le nombre d&rsquo;avions n\u00e9cessaires pour fournir le service d\u00e9crit par l&rsquo;unit\u00e9 fonctionnelle, notamment en raison d&rsquo;une p\u00e9nalit\u00e9 de masse induite ; iv) certains des syst\u00e8mes impliquent des infrastructures suppl\u00e9mentaires, y compris pour la fin de vie, et v) une comparaison \u00e9quitable n\u00e9cessite la prise en compte des facteurs de for\u00e7age du climat autres que le CO2, tels que les NOx, la n\u00e9bulosit\u00e9 induite, la vapeur d&rsquo;eau, le noir de carbone et les sulfates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two time scopes are considered (near- and long-term). The main differences are: (i) the long-term assumes that blending with fossil kerosene will no longer be required, and (ii) natural gas is used as a heat source in the nearterm while heat is fully electrified in the long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au total, 16 impacts ont \u00e9t\u00e9 quantifi\u00e9s, et six impacts ont \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tudi\u00e9s plus finement, dont celui sur les changements climatiques. Les r\u00e9sultats d\u2019impacts pour le changement climatique indiquent, \u00e0 court et \u00e0 long terme, que tous les sc\u00e9narios sont plus performants que le k\u00e9ros\u00e8ne fossile, \u00e0 l&rsquo;exception du sc\u00e9nario HEFA \u00e0 court terme. Cela est d\u00fb \u00e0 l&rsquo;utilisation contrefactuelle des huiles usag\u00e9es pour le chauffage, alors fourni par le gaz naturel. Les biocarburants et les \u00e9lectrocarburants sont fortement p\u00e9nalis\u00e9s par les exigences de m\u00e9lange avec le k\u00e9ros\u00e8ne fossile \u00e0 court terme ; cela vaut \u00e9galement pour les syst\u00e8mes de batteries \u00e9lectriques hybrides (segments internationaux, aux deux horizons temporels). Tous les syst\u00e8mes \u00e0 H2, ainsi que les syst\u00e8mes biocarburants (all) (\u00e0 l\u2019exception de HEFA)<br>et les syst\u00e8mes enti\u00e8rement \u00e9lectriques, ont un impact net nul (ou n\u00e9gatif) sur le climat. Cela s&rsquo;explique par l&rsquo;importante quantit\u00e9 de chaleur r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9e \u00e0 la fois dans le processus de gaz\u00e9ification et dans la production d&rsquo;hydrog\u00e8ne, ce qui se traduit par une \u00e9conomie de gaz naturel. C&rsquo;est pourquoi les r\u00e9sultats sont tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rents \u00e0 long terme, les syst\u00e8mes dont la performance d\u00e9pend moins de la chaleur r\u00e9cup\u00e9r\u00e9e (biocarburants, tout \u00e9lectrique, et H2) \u00e9tant plus proches d&rsquo;une performance \u00e0 impact climatique nul.
