and research subject<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-302b4ff elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"302b4ff\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>My research project aimed at establishing methylotrophy\u2014that is, the ability to metabolize methanol\u2014in the bacterium <em>Escherichia coli<\/em>. More specifically, I investigate how metabolic and regulatory networks interact to generate an integrated response in both natural and synthetic methylotrophs when exposed to methanol in their environment. Building on this knowledge, my goal is to design and reconstruct synthetic regulatory networks that enable E. coli to grow efficiently on methanol.
