Research Topics

Since joining the CNRS as a researcher in the LISBP laboratory (recently renamed TBI), I pursued the development of my skills in organic synthesis, while acquiring new knowledge and practical knowhow in the fields of protein biochemistry, enzyme engineering and high-throughput screening. In my laboratory, I supply vital in-house expertise in the field of (glyco)chemistry, supporting research focused on enzyme discovery through the design of ad hoc substrates for easy specific detection of enzymatic activities. I also provide strong input in the area of enzymatic (glyco)synthesis, using carbohydrate active enzymes (transglycosylases from evolved glycoside hydrolases, esterases, etc.) and work on development of novel enzymes for de novo synthesis of carbohydrates. Most recently, I have shifted a part of my research activity towards the redesign of enzyme active sites, also targeting protein glycosylation as an applied aim. This research calls upon my knowledge of chemistry and uses non-canonical amino acids to extend the chemical functionalities of naturally-occurring enzymes.
