The yeast exquisite senitivity

Key players in the food and biotechnology industries, yeasts have yet another hidden talent : their exquisite senitivity. Yeast cells are already used worldwide to detect numerous environmental polluants and contaminants of medical relevance such as pathogens and viruses. Today, synthesis biology and nanotechnology allow the design of tailor-made yeast-based biosensors able to bind and target any molecule of interest whith output signals that can be recorded or followed on a smartphone.
